Default check engine light Obd1 engine in obd2 car

Just swapped my d16y8 97 del sol for a obd1 b16a3. How do I pull check engine light codes? My 97 del sol only has the plug you jump to set ignition timing.

Should be the same place/procedure. Are you using an OBD2A ecu?

b16a3 with matching obd1 computer with a jumper harness to connect to the obd2 harness on car. So I cannot plug a scanner onto it and pull codes, and since it’s obd2 car there isn’t a plug to jump for codes. Only for timing. However when I jumped the plug to set timing the srs stared flashing. So I’m at a loss of how to set the timing and also how to pull codes.

Okay copy, thanks for the details. If you have a decently reputable jumper harness, it should work exactly the same as flashing codes with the OBD2 ecu did. You jump the two-pin SCS connector on the RHS of the car near the ecu. An OBD2 scan tool, obviously, will not do anything at all.

You said that the SRS light is coming on when you jump the connector. What color is the connector itself?

im planning on ordering another jumper harness just to confirm. It was in the car when I bought it. Car fires up but is lacking power and I can feel/hear a slight misfire around 3k-3500k (rpm). The connector is gone just the two wires that use to have the connector. Brown and black wire. I used it with my obd2 d16y8 and it allowed me to set the base timing. When I jump those wires now The srs light is flashing. 5 long flashes and 2 quick flashes, then 1 long flash and 2 quick flashes.
