Friend picked up a 98 CRV Auto AWD model, but the transmission won't shift into any gear once warmed up. The solenoids been replaced multiple times, and no visible blockage in the screens/filters for them. Supposedly the transmission has a built in filter, which is technically not serviceable without a breakdown/rebuild basically.

I have an auto transmission out of my 99 integra, and wondering if it will swap in. He doesn't care about the AWD aspect at this point in time, just wants to get it driving. We got the transmission ready to put in, but while taking apart the CRV transmission, we noticed it had more sensors and what not on it, that were not on mine, so that is why we ask if it's a swappable part or not. I'm sure it will bolt up, but will the CRV be able to command it to shift properly, or will it somehow cause limp mode, etc?

Nope.

 

The CRV transmission is basically an F/H series transmission with a B series bellhousing. A B series transmission will bolt to the block but the axles won’t work.

 

Well that is kind of a bummer lol.

Does this mean the only options I have are to either rebuild it, or find another same generation CRV transmission in working order?
