Hey Guys,

Hopefully someone can answer a few questions as I have a 07 civic that the 5 speed was not staying in 5th gear. I have the transmission out and tore down and I am replacing the 5th gear set and synchro. Here are the issues I am running into and wondering if someone could assist me.

1. The inner gear that the collar slides on from 5th engagement and to 6th but since it's a 5 speed doesn't have those gears. The new one doesn't go on the main shaft but the original on slides on without issues. I have checked and manual doesn't say its press fit am I missing something? (Yes, I am aware that it's not aligned up to the synchro in this picture, but it won't go any lower even when aligned.)



2. The same collar has a taller side and shorter side, and I am afraid I might have flipped it. Searching I have yet to find a good picture showing orientation.
