Hello I have a 98 ex civic, I've had it for about 7 months now and recently it's been having an issue. I was driving home from work and I noticed the CEL came on. After driving about 20+ miles the rpms would start to bounce when I accelerated to about 2000rpms. The car would jerk back and forth while trying to drive in gear. I brought it into work the next day and ran the code (P0505) after doing some research I found out it was for the Idle air control valve. I purchased one and replaced it cleared the code but it came back on driving home and had the same issues. I have checked for vacuum leaks and had none. Bled the coolant and also bought a new TPS. Took off the throttle body and cleaned it throughly and even bought a new throttle body gasket. I gave up and took it to a Honda repair shop in town and they did the same things I had done and said they fixed it. Picked it up the next morning and drove to work and wouldn't you know... the light flicked back on and had the same issues. Called the shop, brought it back in and they said they THINK it need a new throttle body. Honda wants 650 for a new throttle body, they said OEM ones come with the TPS and MAF and it's one while unit. I'm not completely sure they are correct that it needs a new one. I also didn't cheap out on the sensors. If anyone has any thing else they can't think do try please let me know. Thanks!
