Hello all, I'm new here, in fact I'm new to the Honda world!
So I don't know much of the details like good parts, names, what fits, brands, etc.
I've always wanted to build a nice older Honda, especially a CRX or 2 door Civic. I want to pull the trigger on a project CRX soon.
2 main questions...
I live in CA, so the cars here may be in decent condition. But are there certain areas of these CRX models I should look out for? Certain panels? Frame?
Lastly, here's the thing... I'm a C4 Corvette guy. I have my own build in progress as well @LTPower95 Instagram if you want to message me there. I need help, and want to talk about what I can do for modding this myself, what can I do to the stock engine? Can you build these things? I'm looking for about 180hp-200hp I guess? Can I build the original engine or should I swap. I want to go B16 B18 stuff.
I'd like V-TEC on it if I can build that. I'm willing to spend a bit of money on it, I know prices have gone up. Nothing crazy... Like my vette, more like... Stock++
My 95' vette has a stage 1 top end build w/ stock bottom end so far with about 460hp 6500rpm (yes that rpm is good, not so low) and it gets very expensive very fast, parts are insane like my $1800 exhaust system, $1200 headers, and about another $2500 of porting heads, intake, cam & valvetrain stuff. So I'm ready to hear the parts and prices this may take. And I'll do most the work myself.
For whoever is willing to lend a hand for this futur build, it would be awesome of you, and greatly appreciated. I gladly help countless of people build/plan their C4's.
Cool C4! If you think those prices are bad never buy a German car.
Anyway, depends if you want NA or boost. Stock D16s can take boost okay, with a few mods they take it great. B16/B18/B20 is all related, and it depends what you want. I don't think these cars have to be very fast to be enjoyable to drive; in some ways slower engines are nice because you can get into it for longer without going too fast. B-series swaps, complete with trans, axles, harness, ecu, seem to be going for $2500-3500 these days if they're in nice shape, but you might be able to piecemeal something together for half that if you hunt properly.

Good luck!
Awesome, thanks for that. I'm looking for 200hp crank NA so I think that's pretty doable. I want to see/put together a good engine build spec list that meet that demand.
The important thing is when I remove the long tube headers and put the cats back on I need it to pass smog here in CA using the smog tune as well as whatever else it needs to pass. So I don't think I can do larger cams over stage 1 or whatever is out there. I hear Skunk alot. I think some good head work will get me there but like I said I need to know the secrets to making power on these smaller engines, in time with more research.
This is about the level of build I'm looking for, but not as a show car, just real nice
