Hello everyone, Ive been thinking of transmission or engine and transmission swapping my EG VX. Id like to have shorter gears and wouldnt mind a little bit more power. I found a cheap 97 HF for sale and the transmission has a bit higher final drive gear, 2nd gear is slightly closer as well, but third and fourth are a bit closer, both have the same 5th gear. Ideally id like a 5th or 6th gen civic EX transmission but this one would still be an upgrade without ruining the mileage as much. The engine also has 25% more hp and 13% more tq, Id probably get it rebuilt if i decide to use it. I was wondering If you guys suggest just doing the transmission swap first and then decide if i want a little more power or if I should just swap both at the same time. I was also wondering if you guys know when vtec-e kicks in with the hf engine, ik it kicks in with the vx engine around 2500 rpms.
