Default N16A1 1.6 Diesel in Civic 2013 - Crankshaft Sensor Location PLEASE??

Hello Everyone

PLEASE anybody know where the crankshaft sensor is located on the N16A1 1.6 Diesel engine in a 2013 Civic?

Attached are 3 photos of the engne and 1 photo of the gearbox.

I removed the sensor at the red arrowhead on the gearbox, but it's not the same as the new crank sensor I've bought. After research, it appears the sensor at the red arrowhead is the transmission speed sensor?

Is the crank sensor the one at the blue arrowhead??

It all looks easy in the photos, but it's a nightmare lying on my back under the car as nothing can be seen clearly nor even be felt easily (I do have the engine covers off ) ... ... hence me wanting to know exactly where the crank sensor is please?

Engine 1

Engine 2

Engine 3

Gearbox

Many Thanks in Anticipation

Attached is supposed to be the Crankshaft Sensor in-situ in the N16A1 engine (off an ebay advert for a used crank sensor).

Anybody recognise it's location?

I've gone all over the 3 pics of the engine and gearbox, but I can't see it the below location.

We don't have the diesel in the US but from my experience with other Honda engines of this generation this red arrow should be pointing to the crank position sensor. Looks like it might be hidden under the starter motor.

"Looks like it might be hidden under the starter motor".

Haha Nice one Ryan! Thank You!

I zoomed in and there is even a 'bit of pink' at your red arrowhead that matches the pink on the sensor I showed off the ebay ad!

Great ... at least I have something to go at tomorrow.

I'll report back with my findings!

To 'Close the Loop' ... I replaced the crankshaft sensor, difficult due to space and driveshft in the way etc. I didn't need to remove anything to get to the sensor, but I had to try flexible socket drives etc etc; in the end a short socket extension got me lined up square and enough room able to turn etc.

Anyway ... it made no difference at all re my fault!

Got back on it yesterday, and my 2nd thought on what it might be proved to be correct ... dirty Air Control Valve! When I first lookked in with a torch, I thought ... naah, this is it not going to make any difference!? There was only a thin ring of deposit, but over all clean looking. I've seen much dirtier giving far less problems. Maybe Honda close tolerance fit means the flap sticks with less deposit.

Cleaned it anyway and all good now ... whoooppeeeeedooo!
