How can I get rid of rear windshield squeak in 5th gen hatch?
Hello everyone, I have a 1992 civic VX, I have a lot of noise that sounds like its coming from the rear windshield and i am trying to make it go away, theres nothing in the trunk that isnt stock, I heard VX's didnt come with a spare tire but mine still had the screw on clamp to secure the tire so I took that out, put sound deadening in the trunk everywhere I could get to without removing the interior side pieces. Ive tightened the latch hook for the rear windsheild twice, the first time I tightened it but not to much to be safe for the windshield, the sound went away for a day but then came back. I just tightened it again over the weekend and its very snug now, have to give it some good force to shut it, nothing sketchy because I know im shutting glass but probably more force then most need to latch. Again the sound went away for a day and then came back. My girlfriend was riding in the back seat and then pushed the glass upward and the rattling went away but comes back when she's not pressing against it, Any other way to tighten the rear windshield? I just cant get it to go away adjusting the latch.
Also my rear windshield seems to have a small leak, not much but any leaking is not ideal. Should I just get new rear weather stripping?

Probably yes and check the body seams in the area. Make sure they aren't compromised.
The other areas it can leak (you should be able to tell better than us) is the shock connections on the hatch window and the handle and wiper delete plugs.

Word to the wise, don't try and tighten the shocks in the window nuts. The nuts are aluminum and the shock post is steel. Honda charges a lot for those stupid nuts and they are a one time tighten only. Can never reuse the buggers by design. The part I'm talking about is #21 and the small bolt post of the shock I circled in red screws into it. Here in Canada that bloody nut is ridiculously priced.
