Just want to share some progress on my paint restoration project. 1997 Accord EX, 123k Miles, Clean title. Restoring it for eye candy. Interior is mint, exterior just has faded paint and some dings, peeling window trims, etc.
Any ideas on how to restore the roof rack trim? Are these painted from OEM or is it some kind of plastic? I tried using back to black but it didnt work.
A nice product to use for all your cars base trim, roof rack, rear doors corner window garnishes and other areas is SEM trim black 39143, works great, durable and lasts. I used it on my car when I restored it 5 years ago and still looks new. You could also try using black plastidip on your rubber window trim or the SEM paint. I've tried that back to black and it doesn't last at all, was only good for maybe a couple weeks/months..
Could also paint your brake calipers and drums using dupont color match paint - many colors to choose from (and it will take the heat and not burn off), brake caliper paint or engine enamel (but limited colors) to get rid of that eye sore rust.
Another tip is to use the finest steel wool can get with a bit of soapy water and scrub gently on all your glass windows. It will not scratch and works great.
