I have a 95 civic dx sedan with a d15 engine. How much hp can I get with a vtech head? What other upgrades can I make? I want to have at least close to 150hp. Newb here! Appreciate any advice!

 

How many miles are on the engine? Slapping on a VTEC (not vtech - that's a cordless phone manufacturer) head won't net you a ton of power, and certainly won't get you close to 150 hp.

Honestly, the best bang for the buck would be a small wet nitrous kit to reach your goal.

Nitrous sounds sweet. It’s got 135k on it. I just want it to be peppy and get up to speed. It’s lacking on the highway and I get overtaken quite often!

 

Chances are you'll be OK running a small shot of nitrous. It would be a good idea to inspect the health of the engine beforehand by doing a compression test and a leak down test. A 35 shot or a 50 shot will likely be fine. Refilling the bottle gets old pretty fast, though.
