VERIFY MY KNOWLEDGE ECM Swap
Here is my problem, purchased a 2001 Civic LX sedan automatic trans. It is throwing a P1607 code (Internal ECM circuit failure). The PO had tried to install a “good” ECM with same part number, but he said the car would not start with the “good” ECM. From the research I have done, it sounds like it would be due to the immobilizer, and the key not being matched up. So, he put he original ECM back in and put I in the Auction. So few questions:
I see on YouTube that I may be possible to swap a chip from the original ECM into the “good” ECM, anyone done this?
If so, does this completely solve the issue, or are there other modules in this car that must match the ECM and Key?
is the P1607 code mean the ECM is actually bad, or could it be an external sensor input? If I go the route above there really isn’t going back without swapping chips back.
Currently odometer is showing 130K, I assume that is stored elsewhere, and not in the ECM. So, swapping ECM should have no impact on what the odometer shows?

54 views and no one knows? Anyway, I did the swap with salvage yard Ecm after having the eeprom swapped. Key started the car up, cel still on, drove 30 miles, still on with code P1607. Bueller, bueller, bueller…….
