1991 honda accord non vtec motor
So i love the old car to death and want to turbo it but after doing more research its harder then i thought. Is it worth turboing? Or should i just get a newer vehicle with a vtec and obd2
VTEC and equivalent non-vtec motors in our generation (e.i., EX f22s) make about the same power. The difference is that the smaller cam allows better response and fuel economy down low so there is no reason to chase after a vtec engine, it will just complicate your build and make tuning more complicated.
And repeat this sentence to yourself mantra-like for as long as you own that old car you purport to love to death: "An aftermarket turbo is bogus."
"Worth it" is subjective. It's your money/time/effort. If it's what you want and you have the means, do what makes you happy. However I can say that parts for these cars are getting pretty rare and the chassis has it's limitations. There are better options available nowadays if you just want something quick.
Don't be lazy. Do your research. This topic has been discussed and debated ad nauseum within honda-tech.com, and eleventy-bazillion other Honda-centric and automotive forums.

A better use of time/money resources to sate that intrinsically male need to divine elusive horsies from a stock daily driver J-series engine is to replace the stock daily driver J-series engine with another compatible stock daily driver J-series engine that was factory-designed-and-built with more horsies.
