hello, I'm trying to fix up a 2000 accord lx 4cyl. the car has been sitting awhile and I'm trying to get it started. I'm getting no power to the fuel pump. when I jumped the pump directly from the trunk the car runs! I have checked the fuses and tried a different relay. this car had an after market alarm installed so the cut and spliced into some wires under the dash. could this be why I'm not getting power? trying to figure out where the wires originally went.
black with white stripe & green with red stripe by drivers side fuse panel orange and yellow up in the dash
Do you know if the PO installed a fuel pump cut-off switch? It seems unlikely since they installed an aftermarket alarm, but it doesn't cost any money to look around. Next best thing is to get your multimeter out and pray
Good thought regarding the possibility of the presence of a fuel pump cutoff switch.
You might consider asking the previous owner that question, if you are able to contact them.
If you suspect the car alarm may have the ability to interrupt power to the fuel pump (not a bad feature, really), then I recommend you contact the alarm manufacturer and:
1) confirm this presumed feature actually exists with the model alarm installed in your car; and, if does exist as a feature, then:
2) get the schematics/installation instructions for that model alarm installed in your car and begin tracing wires using this resource.
In any case, you need the Honda wiring schematics to identify the wires specific to the fuel pump, which are available online.
Hey guys thank you for the responses. I checked the black/yellow power wire with a pen light tester on the drivers side fuse panel right where the wire starts to go back to the fuel pump. I was getting the two seconds for fuel prime and power while cranking. decided to check and sure enough a rodent had chewed through the three wires to the fuel pump right behind the back seat. I fixed the wires and car is starting right up yay!!!
now I'm looking at why the car is Rev limiting at 4 thousand rpm. almost like a Rev limiter? someone told me it might be a sensor inside the distributor? I'm going to change cap and rotor first.
it also seems like the idle wants to jump up and down. something with the idle air control valve?. otherwise I'm happy so far. It has a low millage JDM motor that sounds great!! 😁
This car is being fixed up for a friend of mine that had hers stolen almost a year ago and was never recovered. Happy Holidays!!
yes I scanned the car getting a code p1259 vtec solenoid. need to check for power to that solenoid still. the car doesn't Rev above 400rpm. it also does not want to idle
