Default D16z6 swap issues

Hey everyone I currently got a d16z6 out of a buddies eg and swapped that into my 2000 ek coupe. It worked amazing but I am currently having a surge at around 1500 rpm and it dose NOT cross over vtec. I believe I narrowed it down to the ecu or dizzy. I’m currently running the ecu from the y7, I got a chipped p75 with launch control but it won’t come out of launch out of gear and no clutch. I was told the p75 will work but I need to splice wires from the clutch were it was originally an automatic…. Any suggestions on what to do?

first thing is to get the correct ecu.

What ecu would be correct to run properly.

Make life easier for your yourself, get a obd2b to obd1 conversion harness and use a P28 ecu. Make sure to get the correct one meaning - manual or auto version depending on what your car is. If you try to use a y8 vtec ecu, you will have a knock sensor l and a CKF sensor CEL I think.
Your y7 ecu has no vtec so it will only get you by at the moment. Not sure if that y7 ecu looks for the crankshaft fluctuation sensor which the z6 does not have. Don't bother with your P75, just get the proper ecu.
Not sure about distributors you would use but "I think" you would the z6 with a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness to simplify things or could de-pin the obd2 plug to the obd1 but there's 1 extra wire to tie in.
I assume your using your old obd2 injectors so they were able to plug in to the cars harness.
For the surging, that has been a problem for many people. I could only suggest to look for a vacuum leak or pull the iacv off and flush it with carb cleaner and clean rhe filter screen while your at it.

are you throwing any codes?

was your 2000 civic initially a y7 or y8?

a y7 will look for a 3 wire iacv while a z6 uses a 2 wire iacv
