B16a2 idle problems after headgasket change
Not new into honda motors but i havent yet experienced this one. After headgasket change the car wont idle below 1k rpm, no CEL , these are the things ive done
1. Pcv valve replace(since the spark plugs keep on fouling because lots of oil entering the intake)
2. Cleaned the intake , tb, iacv
3. Replaced with good known map, iacv, iat, ignition coil, igniter , hi tension wires, fuel pressure regulator
4. Spark plugs
5 checked cam timing and re do valve clearance at least 3 times
This one i am wondring because when im checking the ignition timing, it is at 40deg btdc and when i retard the distributor it only took 32 - 33deg btdc but @ 1200rpm because i cant get it to idle below 1k rpm. It shakes and stall.
b16a2 with stock obd2b ecu so i cant hook my laptop and read sensors and check what are erroneous readings.
The car has power and drives normally up the rpm but it wont idle normally. Compression test is @ 235 to 240psi nothing abnormal
Any thoughts?

Check your mechanical (timing belt) timing and make sure ALL marks are at TDC when the crank pulley is positioned at TDC. Next, make sure that you are using the #1 spark plug wire to get your timing light signal from... using any other plug wire will cause odd readings on your timing gun. If nothing changes with the idle... check to see if you have a vacuum leak by spraying brake cleaner systematically around the throttle body, fuel injectors, intake manifold gasket, etc. If the idle speed changes (increases or decreases), try spraying the same place again to repeat/confirm the result, and then fix the offending area.
Thanks for the reply, tripple checked the timing and it is spot on , cam lobes of exhaust @ 10 oclock and 2 oclock and on the crank. Sprayed brake cleaner and no idle changes, ive used number 1 spark plug on timing and it is indeed 40deg, im still wondering what is the problem
With the rotor button installed, the contact should point toward the #1 plug wire on the cap... at the 7:30 position when facing the distributor as you have pictured above. If not, do you have some issues with the distributor ? The top signal wheel looks damaged... and will you find other issues inside the distributor if you look deeper ?
