Starts but I have to crank it too long
OK, The little pos is on-the-road and I'm working-out the bugs. fixed cig lighter today and checked the TPS voltage again. It's very close so I'm going to leave that alone for now... The problem I have now is that I have to crank the engine for about 5x longer than I should have to to get it started. I have a Ford ZX2 with a Mazda drivetrain and it fires up immediately. "crank crank varrooom". every time. The Honda is like; "crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crack". I hate it. something is not right.... I have the TPS very close but not perfect. could this be the problem? fuel injectors? clogged fuel filter? THANKS
I have no idea... I've been working on two white, 95 del sols and i get them mixed up as to what I did to which car. I think that the timing is retarded. friend is going to lend me his timing light. the light I had for 40 years broke. pissed me right off....
You should replace those then, it should start up faster, if not you have other problems we can diagnose once you do a basic tune up to eliminate those.
OK, I transferred the plugs from another good running del sol and that fixed the problem. the Denso plugs are KA-RAP. NOW, it lugs without jerking and drives without hesitating. THANKS for suggesting.... long ago I had a WS6 Trans Am that ran great but then after I let it sit in the garage for a year, it wouldn't start. no spark... I tried replacing a bunch of stuff in the distributor but still no spark. I had a guy come out to look at it and he suggested that I just buy a new, complete distributor and drop it in. I bought a cheap cardone distributor on ebay, dropped it in and it fired right up and ran great... sometimes a little obvious advice is needed because with these cars you can overcomplicate the problem. But what's odd is that the plugs would not fire properly under load ... I don't understand how that can happen. THANKS
