Default Trip odometer reading wrong

I have a 1996 civic hatchback with a b18c1 swap and civic si gauge cluster. The problem I'm having is that my trip odometer seems to be reading very wrong, as in it thinks I'm traveling way farther than I actually have. Yesterday I drove about 20 miles along some backroads but when I looked down on the odometer, it said that I had driven 200+ miles. Anyone know what's wrong? Are the units not in miles?

Your odometer is broken. Try another instrument cluster and see if the problem goes away.
