Default D16 5000+ issue

I have a turboed d16y8 and I can't get it above 5000 rpm and doesn't show any codes. I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue and what they did to solve it or ideas of where to check.

What engine management are you using? Does it act like it's hitting a rev limiter, or just start breaking up/studdering at 5K? Is this a new build or was it running fine and this just started happening?

it was running for about 2 years till this started happening

If you are able to plug in a laptop and record a datalog of when this happens, that will probably tell you what's up. Could be a speed sensor issue, if the speed is not reading correctly it could be in launch control mode. But it could be any number of things. I'd be happy to take a look at the datalog if you wanted to send it my way. Make sure your firmware is up to date. Does it run normally otherwise?

Actually makes a lot of sense with it being stuck in a launch control mode. I'll give that a try today and see if I can upload the data log. I'll also test it by turning off launch control with the laptop today to see if that works

Start with a simple visual inspection of the hot side and cold side. Could be an exhaust leak or boost leak

Also check your vacuum lines to the boost controller and wastegate. It could be hitting boost cut.

So after testing it this weekend I did turn off launch control, and I thought it was working better (didn't feel 100%) but it worked well in first and second gear (was stumbling still a bit)but 3rd gear was still having an issues. After I came off the throttle i had a idle of 4000. All the bolts to the throttle body came loose and gasket was gone. Replaced the gasket and it was working even better than before was still having some breaking up but not like it was hitting a limiter any more. This morning a battery light came on and the alternator is bad on the car. So ill be changing that out again and see if that fixes the problem completely.
