Honda Accord Power Problems
Since September of 2021, my 99' Honda Accord EX has been experiencing some weird issues. The problem has been sporadic for the most part over the last 14 months, but I have been trying to figure out what it is. I feel like the issue is hard to describe so bear with me.
Description of problem:
I'll be in motion, usually on freeways but sometimes city streets, and in an instant I'll see the tachometer drop and the maintenance light blink and everything will go back to normal.
Sometimes this is accompanied by a small-jerk but not always. Usually, I feel nothing. I just see it.
No mechanic could tell me why.
But then the problem worsened.
About a month ago I was driving on city streets and the car started losing power and all the lights on the dashboard lit up. I restarted the car and everything was fine again.
So I did some research and found it could be the ignition distributor (one mechanic did suggest this about 6 months ago and said if the car dies or won't start I'll know that's why)
So 3 weeks ago I replaced the ignition distributor.
Yesterday I got in my car and it wouldn't start. Waited a minute or two and tried again and it started and I drove away.
Just now I saw the tach do the same thing as described above.
One note is I don't think the guy who replaced the ignition distributor for me did the timing. I only mention this in case it means the new ignition distributor is no different than the old one, but otherwise, I don't think this is the cause of the problem.
Anyone have any clue what this is?
