Default 3rd gen prelude temp gauge is fluctuating

so after changing the sensor for code 6 i’m seeing the temp gauge rise and fall differently than before. now the gauge will go to 40% after 5 minutes of idle. after idling for 15 minutes the gauge will rise to 60% and the radiator fans will turn on. the radiator fans will run for 20 seconds and the gauge will fall back to 40-50% after fans turn off. i’m using a napa auto parts brand sensor now. when i used a autozone brand sensor the gauge would go up to hot and return to 75% after fans turn off. i returned the autozone sensor because it was off by a lot. the napa brand sensor is better but i’m curious if this is normal for the gauge to fluctuate. i drove around for 8 miles and it didn’t fluctuate during the drive. only when idling it fluctuates. i’m wondering if it’s normal for the temp gauge on the dash to rise and fall from 40-60% when idling ???

also when i had the oem honda sensor the gauge would never rise past 40% no matter what and would never fluctuate. didn’t matter how much i rev the engine it would stay at 40%

was the honda sensor functioning? is the napa sensor incorrect? is there air in system? what could this be? i linked a time lapse video of the gauge rising and falling below. any help is appreciated thank you

^^ this is the napa sensor i’m using currently
