So I recently bought a civic with a transmission issue and ended up fixing it only to find a coolant leak right after so without even thinking I replaced everything that has to do with coolant. Hoses, reservoir, thermostat water pump etc. only to find it has a blown head gasket. So I took off the cylinder head from my other civic and replaced everything on it and had it sent in to get milled. And when I did the gasket on the civic the block looked like this. I went along and finished the job only to find that the leak is worse. Did everything to torque Can someone just zoom in and tell me how it looks and if the block is the reason why it’s leaking
How did you clean off all the old gasket residue etc? The deck should be all machined aluminum appearance, whereas that deck looks like it has junk around the tops of the cylinders where the gasket seal surface is most critical. You might need to have the blocked decked as well.

what about the sleeves tho? They are all chipping away at the top
First off, it’s not a good enough pic that I can zoom in on, and second, see all that black stuff? That should not be there. It’s gotta be an absolutely smooth machined surface across the whole thing, that’s how the hg seals everything. If you look at the fresh machined surface of the head when you first got it, that’s how the block deck should look too. If not…bhg pretty much guaranteed.
