Power Windows/Doors Not Working
So i bought an 89 civic sedan about a year ago. The guy told me there was some stuff that needed fixing, which one was the rear driver window didn’t work, and door lock system didn’t work. I didn’t drive it much since I didn’t have my license, and I guess all the windows went out. So summer comes along I get a diagnostic just so I know whats wrong. Something about a bad ground wire, and also to maybe buy a control unit for the door locks.
My problem is I don’t know where the ground is, or how to figure out why its bad. Can anyone help

We can't tell you anything informative from the lack of information you provided.
Troubleshooting the 12V electronics is pretty simple. The switches are straight forward 3 position on/off/on. Motors operate forward or reverse depending on polarity of the input power.
If all the switches are bad. Try diagnosing the front driver panel first. Take it out. Put a multimeter to the terminals and make sure there's continuity.
It's like diagnosing a light bulb.

So none of the windows work, neither do the power door locks on any window. I haven’t tested it myself which I will, but I payed for a diagnostic and the guys were lazy workers and barely told me what was wrong, they didn’t describe it very well. All they told me was my back window didn’t have a regulator or motor thats why that one doesn’t work, and for the rest there was a bad ground that wasn’t giving no power to the control unit, so to also buy a new control unit.
Im 15 barely learning but I want to get more into it, I know sort of how to use a multimeter I just don’t know where the ground wire is, and before I buy a new door lock control unit I want to test it myself.

Ok, so you're 15 and you don't know anything about electricity.
You should just watch some YouTube like everyone else to learn basic stuff like "chassis ground" and what positive and negative terminals on a battery do.
I'm not being demeaning or sarcastic. Go and learn.
But your description isn't helpful. I don't think the shop was being lazy, they just didn't care to explain their job to you and didn't want to charge you more for their labor to fix the problems they found.
The control box is the driver side switches. Check that. Make sure that's working, use the continuity setting. Get a spare battery and test it yourself.
or just live without it.

I get you yeah i do need to learn it myself so ima just fix it myself by getting all the tools first.
Second off they were being lazy, I have had multiple problems with them, and so has my uncle to went to hum first. I texted them for a diagnostic and they came 2 hours later than they said they would, and didn’t respond when i asked for a quote for fixing the issue. They’re big fat guys who do everything all sloppy.
