Default 92-95 hatchback speedometer goes all the way around and won’t read speed

I was driving and then suddenly my speedometer needle went all the way to 0 then dipped below 0 and when I turned the car off it just dropped down. I checked the vss plug and it’s seemed fine.Any idea what it could be?

This a design issue with the connections between the Speedometer module
(and other gages), and the printed circuit flex board. You will have to pull out
the instrument cluster carefully from the dash, and then disassemble the cluster.
(detach the inner plastic case from the lens assembly)
There are pins on the speedometer module which mate into pressure fit parallel finger
contacts on the speedometer housing, which ultimately mate to the speedometer
section of the pcb by screws.
Very carefully pull out the speedometer from the cluster (the odometer
reset rubber **** will have to be removed carefully). Locate the solder
points on the speedometer galvanometer, which reads the signal from the
speed sensor (on the transmission housing) circuit. Be very careful here
since the galvanometer wires are very delicate and break easily.
Solder jumper wires to galvanometer, and then route them to
the PCB points - you may have to drill small access holes in the
plastic housing (rear). Now solder these wires to the corresponding points
on the pcb. Then reassemble the cluster - VERY VERY CAREFULLY !

All meters have very thin delicate wires within the galvanometers
which can break easily with even the slightest force.
