Default 97 Honda Accord Wagon

I am new here and have a quick question. I have a 97 Accord wagon and transmission we out. Transmission guy says if I buy a used one it has to come out of other wagon. Is this correct or can I use a sedan transmission?

Default Re: 97 Honda Accord Wagon

see linked thread for more info

non-wagon transmissions would bolt up and function but will have a different gear ratio (final drive) not optimized for the heavier wagon. it will be slower to accelerate.

1st gen odyssey and 4th gen preludes would also have transmissions that would work as well. the Odyssey would have the best chance of having correct or close to correct gear ratios.

however, the transmission shop may not be able to warranty an alternate model transmission even if it would technically work.
