Split exhaust system on my newly bought 98 hatch
So I just bought a 98 civic, which i knew had an aftermarket exhaust, but when i had a closer look under the car, i noticed it was missing a muffler on the left hand side, meaning it was dual channel? From what i could see, it had a HKS Hi-power tailpipe. I tried searching for anything relating to an ek civic and split exhaust systems, but nothing came up? I wanted to know if im bad at searching for things, or i’ve got myself a very interesting civic.
So when i went under the car, it had the right hand muffler and pipe, but it also split into a pipe on the left, with the left muffler removed.
Im going to assume that it was custom fabricated and the person just didn’t finish it, but if there was a system made by HKS, it would make my issue here a lot easier since i need to change it to get it registered.
also sorry it my terminology is confusing, im still learning aha

Maybe you can post a photo of what you have now. I have never seen an actual dual exhaust system manufactured by a major supplier for a '98 Civic. I have seen many custom dual systems that are created because the body kit on the car has provisions for dual tips in the rear bumper... just saying.

Must be loud sounding with that open pipe where it's missing the rest of the exhaust. I run the same muffler on my turbo crx with a straight 3" pipe going under the fuel tank. (Sounds sick)
Looks like someone put in some effort and did that custom. You could cut off the extra pipe where it splits and weld a cap on or get another same muffler and have it fitted on with a pipe to mate to the open flange. Its not a cheap muffler though. That or just make a flat plate to bolt on the open flange to seal it but you'll have extra dead weight.
