OT: ITR instead of my lude?? help yall. LONG
Ok this is OT, but I need some advice before I put myself in further debt.
the other day my girlfriend starts talking about how she doesn't like her accord and wants a lude...ya know how women are..more more more
But this got me thinking, me me me
. (Lightbulb turns on.) What if I give her my lude and get the next best Honda err Acura, a Type R. So, I started looking
A cheap Type R, at least what I can find, is 18k I owe bout 8k on my lude. I would just sign my lude over to her, and trade her 98 Accord in on a Type R, or possibly sell it...
So I end up in further debt, w/a better car IMO, (and on paper) that is already modded quite a bit from the factory. I think the only mods that I would add would be bolt ons, and all suspension parts. The main reason I want a R is they seem to hold their value well due to the rarity of the car. So the odds of me losing money are slim to none.
So, what do you guys think?? R or Lude.
By the time Im done modding the lude (if that day ever comes) it would obviously outperform the R, but obviously would not hold value like the R.
Need help guys give me some advice!!
If this is too OT (glances around for JG or Corey), I don't have a problem moving it. But I trust the luders the most.
Thanks Yall

Why give her your old car? Sell it and you won't be so into debt.
If you want the ITR, sell your Prelude to the girlfriend, and buy the ITR. Keep in mind that your insurance will likely be significantly higher with the ITR. And you also would have to be much more paranoid about theft and vandalism with the ITR.
Andrew
sorry, should have explained in more detail.
I would sell or trade in her car....so, I would get money from her accord.
I think it is worth more due to 1 year newer(98), less mileage +its fully loaded (besided the V6.)
I just want to know what you gusy think about the Type R vs 97SH.
Is it worth the price difference.

I would get the Type R, it's performance is excellent for the setup it has, and basically has more potential than the Prelude in my opinion. Make sure it's mAd SkIlLz YElLoW though, lol
Judging from your sig I'm guessing that you are going to track the car. If that is the case go with the ITR. Make sure that you have a garage to store it in though. Theft is a very big issue with them.

ya, auto x is what i planned for the R. I have a garage about half the time. I go to college and have a dorm room, so it would be outside quite a bit..
I live in Utah though...so theft isn't too big of an issue.

heh, the only thing that pushes me away from the lude and toward the Type R is...you guessed it..... the weight.
The only hard part is finding an ITR, that could take months in Utah.

Ya, you're right Boost. The JDM ludes would hang w/and possibly own the ITR.
Think it would be better to do type S swap instead of an ITR?? Then I would only be 3gs more in debt??
Boost if I drove your lude...I wouldn't even consider the R...too bad I don't have 10g's laying around for my motor.... (D gets jealous)

lol.... here in a couple years, when i am ot of debt for my damn engine, i am going to try to get my hands a JDM Prelude SiR-S, i know a guy that goes over there all the time and buys engine swaps and what not, i am going to see what it would take to get a RHD SiR-S
OR... you could just go a few more Gs in debt and build an engine

I agreed with getting the ITR b/c you mentioned resale and such. You could easily sell the lude, pic up an integra, drop in an H22, and put a nice suspension on it if you wished. It wouldn't be worth near as much as an ITR when you go to sell it, but if performance is your main goal then there are cheaper ways.
I'd get the ITR in a heart beat. I dont think the insurance will be much higher on it than your Lude. My friend has one and his insurance is $25 bucks cheaper a month than mine and he has a worse driving record and is younger.

thats completely irrelevant.
if we had those over here, then the ITR wouldn't get so much more fan fair than all the other Hondas
no, it's not, the reason the ITR gets so much "deseved hype" is b/c no one gives a damn, or even knows about the Type S or the SiR-S for that matter

in any case, im not up with the type-s specs so there may be other factors.. but if you think that you are going to keep pace with an ITR because you have 20 extra hp to make up for the 400lb weight difference, youre out of your mind.

type s prelude weigh less than the base model Prelude... and it's got 25 more hp than the ITR and also has an LSD... maybe that's the SiR-S and the Type S has ATTS.... either way, there is one that is more comparible to the ITR, and would prevail in a straight, or in the twisties
To get back on topic... The ITR would be the ideal choice, in my unbiased opinion.
Comparing a modified prelude to a stock itr is apples to oranges. The itr is an amazing car, right off the dealership floor. Take it from me, I was one of the biggest type-r haters, and thought it was all just BS hype. I love this car so much more and more each day. Mine is just about stock other than an aem and 18° timing. It's such a blast to drive in stock form, I can only imagine with some well planned mods, !
My main concern is theft, as mentioned a few times above. It's out of control how bad it's gotten, even in my area. I pray to god that nobody ever gets my R, but should they, I will get myself a nice '98 CW...
Mike- who smells another itr vs prelude debate brewing....
