Icon4 Bait and swith parts at RockAuto?

Bait and switch (type-O)

This happened to me 2-3 years ago and I just installed the part and went on. I had to. You can't drive around with a bad tie-rod end. Now it's happened again, at RockAuto. I don't know who's doing it. You can't communicate with RockAuto at all. With their webform all you can do is send it back at your own expense. I don't think I should have to pay for shipping. What I am going to do it call Mevotech and see what they'll do. I bet they can get RockAuto on the phone....

You can see the two different part numbers. The correct part on the box, is a superior "Premium" part made with higher quality. The part in the box is the "plain jane" economy part.

I don't know who's at fault here, but I'm going to do something about it this time.

What brand of tie-rod are y'all using for 90-93 Integra? Acura stopped making them years ago. I'd appreciate suggestions.

The other part number supposedly is a Moog part number, instead of the Mevotech part number on the box.

They both use the same part # on the economy class. The mevotech only uses the "M" in front for their "Premium" grade. They probably come from the same manufacturer.

I'm going to call them today and see if I can find out.... anything.

I have seen Sankei listed in recent searches...made in Japan. I might try them.

A genuine Japanese manufactured part would be a good path to follow... I hate to hear that MOOG has traveled down the capitalistic path of profit at the expense of quality... this will be their ultimate undoing.

Mevotech says, I do have the "Premium" part, so I did get what I ordered. These, and the Moog parts seem to last about three years, so I've got some time to find a better part. RockAuto sent the correct part. It's kind of stupid, for Mevotech NOT to put the full part number on the inside.... but I guess you can't expect that detail any more.

You'd seriously be better off just going to Oreilly's or Autozone.

Duralast works great and when it doesn't I have a physical AutoZone I can walk into that is forced to hear my grievance. They generally are more than willing to make it right since the guys behind the counter could care less about swapping the part out or doing a refund. And no one is out shipping $. And it's always faster, if it's not at the store it's next day from the hub.

Idk some people swear by rockauto tho.

Rockauto is great for consumables like gaskets, hoses, spark plugs, etc but for anything else forget with a warranty that might need replacement forget it.

Having to pay shipping to
2 separate warehouse for returns on parts that failed and nearly killed me was straight bullshit and they refused to honor the return since I shipped both parts to the same return warehouse.

There are very few parts where I can't find high-end...and oem. Like denso, ngk, etc...and Acura. I do also get skunk2 or Hard Race for a few. Almost all of my bushings I bought from Acura before they quit making some of them, but tie-rod ends...I haven't found the ones I'd like yet. I'd like to try a Japanese brand.

Sankei seems good, but so far it seems their joints are sealed. Non-greasable. I prefer to grease tie-rod ends.

No point in greasing a **** joint that is going to fall apart no matter how frequently you grease it.

I have many OEM sealed joints over 300k miles. And I have greasable moog joints that have **** the bed in 20k miles.

What OEM joints are you referring to? There are NO oem tie-rods for the gen 2 Integra. Honda/Acura stopped making them about 6-7 years ago.

...and Napa no longer carries the Sankei.

So far, the only usful info is the Sankei tie rods may be worth trying. No one has said, they've used a specific brand that lasted a long time. The rest is meaningless drivel. OEM? Really? There haven't been any for a '90 Integra in a long time.

I wish skunk2, Hardrace or some high-end manufacurer made them, but they don't.

This is what I like about greasable tie-rods. You have to check them. You can tell what shape they're in by how much grease you put in and how much is coming out from the boot. Advanced notice. A sealed tie-rod just goes out...starts to shimmy. You could be out on the road. Then you have to call a tow truck. That's why I prefer greasable tie-rods. You know when they're going bad with plenty of time left.

Original sealed joints from 1991, 1994, 2001, 2004. All still going strong.

Napa does not list the joints as Sankei, they are just the napa house brand joint.

ATM SE6191R for example

I looked on Napa yesterday, and again just now. If you scroll down and open the specs, it tells you the actual brand. None are Sankei. Look for yourself.

The '90 Integra has some parts that are specific only to the '90. It was the first gen 2. Acura started changing it the next year. Some of those part that were only on that year are part of the front suspension. The knuckle...and LCA and sway bar are completely unique to that year and only that year.

Skunk2 makes a front LCA for the 91 thru 93. It doesn't fit the 90.

The parts listed as 555 in the title are Sankei. They come in the orange Sankei 555 box. Order it and go pick it up. If it's not Sankei then walk away.

But I can tell you I have ordered a great many of them from Napa and they have all been original Sankei parts.
