Icon6 Oil Pressure Gauge Recommendations

For those of you with oil pressure gauges do you use one that has max reading of 100 psi on the gauge range or 150 psi?

Also do you use electric or mechanical gauge?

I have an electric one autometer gauge, i think mine goes up to 100 psi. I cant imagine why you would need one that reads higher than that.

Does yours just hook to the back of oil pressure sending unit?

I used an oil feed line that taps into where the pressure sensor was, then ran that to a distribution tee on the firewall where i plugged in the sending unit of the oil pressure, as well as the sensor. I took the car to work today, i can grab a pic if you'd like.

This was pretty hard to get a good picture with all of the crap in the way.

So, this steel braided line threads into the block where the oil pressure sensor for the dummy light was threaded into previously. This line runs up to the junction I have mounted on the fire wall to a tee fitting that connects the sending unit for the gauge and the dummy light sensor for the oil light.

Here you can see (sort of) the wire leaving the sending unit and it goes through the fire wall not much further from this picture and through the cabin to the gauge.

The readings may be slightly inaccurate since the oil is traveling a longer distance, but this method keeps all of the weight from hanging off the block, preventing a potential break at the fittings and squirting oil everywhere. I've had this setup for roughly 15 or so years now, no issues.

So there is no oil line running through firewall into the car then? Is that the factory oil pressure sending unit you are tapped into ?

If so what electric type gauge you using?

I have only found Autometer and AEM both of which are somewhat pricey so if your jerry rigging it to be electric in another way that would be great.

Was wanting to avoid having run oil line inside the car just in case it ever broke but seems alternative is possibly a 200 plus electric gauge :/

correct, its an electric autometer gauge so no oil going through the fire wall. The sending unit you're seeing is an autometer sending unit. i think i paid less than $100 for my electric gauge and it came with the sending unit. I think mine is the Z series gauges, but can't say for sure.

i actually found the old link i followed too for the install:The Old One - Energy Dynamics : Articles

52mm GlowShift White 7 Color Oil Pressure Gauge w Sensor - GS-W704 GLOW SHIFT | eBay

This is the easiest install kit IMO,

unplug the old harness, remove the old oil pres. sensor. and install this one. Screws right in the OEM spot.

I looked around and found this, comparing it to others it looked like a better kit because the plug has a better design with rubber seals the other kits didn't have a plug/ harness like that. Plus, the sensor has the same thread pitch as the oem sensor so i knew it would make things easier. It also has multiple colors to choose from which i like! i set a different color every now and then!

Here is some pics of it installed.

Here is the OEM sensor next to the glow shift sensor!

You can see it installed here!

Lots of options. Add any gauge you want. The reviews all seem to be the same no matter how much you spend.

Can pipe into the ECU and display on Tunerview. Pressure for whatever you want 0-100-150-200+psi
