Default !NEW! Making an f22b2 - f22b1

I’m new to honda tech and i desperately need help with my accord, i just bought a 1997 honda accord ex wagon, but there’s a problem, someone must’ve swapped the original f22b1 to a f22b2 for some unknown reason, i could motor swap to that but i’ve heard there’s a way to add the vtec capabilities to the f22b2, all over read is old forums on it and i just want new and more clear information on how to do it, i’m not looking to swap a different motor other than the f22b1 but i just want to make sure i could just convert it rather than buy a whole new motor and dealing with that mumbo jumbo, thanks!

You can simply swap on an F22B1 head, wire up VTEC, and run the F22B1 ECU. Be sure to remove the oil control orifice from the F22B2 block when you do the head swap. Use the F22B1 exhaust manifold for best results. It's that simple.

An F22B1 valve cover will be required.

You will also need an F22B1 timing belt, spark plug wires, etc. I recommend doing some research and reading up on the head swap.

Is there anyway you could provide me with a list of parts i would need, i also forgot to mention, i have the automatic transmission, it would also be very helpful if you could give me step by step help as well, i haven’t really been successful at finding new information on this swap and i just want everything to go smoothly. If you know anyone that has done this swap please get them in on this fourm!

There is a link in the FAQ stickied at the top of this forum with the information you're looking for. The link is dead but you can still use the "waybackmachine"(archive.org) to view it.

Are you sure you have an EX? I can't imagine why someone would swap in a non-vtec F22b2. Does your wagon have disc brakes front and rear, a sunroof, and paint-matched door moldings?

Yep, i can’t believe it either, here are some pics of everything that would indicate it has an f22b1 but in reality it has an f22b2, it’s insane, im still trying to get more info on the head swap so it’ll basically be an f22b1.

Interesting, looks like it was a show car at one point in its life. Probably had an H in it and they pulled it out and swapped that in when they sold it lol.

Nope, it actually use to have a f22b1, i found the an old listing of it from 2010, and also i found that it actually was customized in Indianapolis at Status Auto Customs LLC which is no longer a business. The car use to be absolutely stunning! I plan to bring it back to its former glory.. but the orange has to go i’m sorry😂

I also have put pics of how it looks now.. i’m going to definitely black it out but also throw in chrome accents here and there. The interior is still up for debate..
