Hello all I am new Honda tech & sort of new to the Honda game, I’m not really mechanically inclined but I know a few things.
I had a small but rather interesting question.
does anyone know if a 98 civic sedan with a NA b18 & b18 trans reliable? Would it be a fun but, yet a good dependable daily? I saw one for sale for about 5k & if it’s good I’ll take it. The swap looks done well & it looks clean, is there anything I should look out for? Thanks In advance & hope I don’t get bashed here.
since you're not mechanically inclined, I would avoid buying a swapped car....unless you have the willingness and patience to learn. If not, you're going to be in for a rude awakening.

Eh, I'd at least advise him to try to take a knowledgeable friend or family member along to look with him.
Visually alone yes it looks well put together. Thoroughly inspect the car for damage, any fluid leaks, etc, and give a thorough test drive. Make sure it handles appropriately, goes through gears smoothly, no CEL, and when you test drive give it just a bit of a kick in the *** to make sure it's healthy on acceleration too. Don't bang the limiter or **** like that, seller definitely won't appreciate it, but accelerate a couple times with some "pep" to make sure there's nothing funky.

Thanks for your advice! My family & friends are all Honda heads & I kinda know what to look for when it comes to swaps, we took it for a good test drive & 5th & 3rd grinds at super high rpms which already indicated that he likes to race it. He said it was his daily. I drove it too & the motor sounds healthy ,drives fine & no funny noises. It’s stressful buying a swapped car because you don’t know how the owners treated it prior
