p0715 on a 1995 Honda Accord V6 2.7L
Hello;
I have been scouring this site for info on this P0715 CEL code for the 1995 V6 Accord, but have only found information on the 4CYL. One of the links that is dead in the older posts had something to do with techauto (Mad Mike posted this) and i found this link that may be similar, but again, its a 4CYL: https://techauto.tripod.com/transmission.html and it likely will change again, but the 1995 stuff is about halfway down the page.
So, after re-reading the posts and searching OEM online part sites some more, i think i found where some of the parts that need to be cleaned are located on the 6CYL (very similar to the 4CYL).
The NM/NC Sensors appear to be item #15, the Pick Up Assy, Main (tec), and #16, the pickup Assy, counter (tec). These items are found when you drill down in the part subheader of "Transmission" to the "AT Right side cover" (right side cover was mentioned in the posts, but i didn't connect it until i went through the images). When the part diagram comes up, you'll see #15 and #16 and the descriptions below the part diagram. If i am wrong, please let me know so i can correct this post.
Also, mention was made about solenoids that need to be checked. i found "shift" solenoids. but still not sure what i'm looking for here. The TCU was also mentioned, but can only figure out so much at once as i am definitely not savvy on cars.
(2022.09.22) The CEL was infrequent, but now its daily. But only happens less than 5 minutes after i leave the driveway (about 2 blocks), just about the time the car gets halfway warmed up. I turn off the engine and then turn it on and go back home to confirm the code is the same, then i clear it. Then i have no problems again until the next day. I drive about 20 miles or so daily. I haven't gone too much further since the code became a daily occurrence.
My plan is to get the sensors cleaned and see if that helps. and then focus on something else in the threads on P0715 and transmission slipping. Thank You to all the folks who put enough info out there so i have a place to start. If there is something i am missing, please let me know. Since i have the 6CYL, i have to make sure that whatever i'm picking up regarding the 4CYL is applicable to the 6CYL. So if anyone has 6CYL specifics to confirm or contradict the info on the 4CYL, please respond to let me know if i'm on the right track or if there is somethinge else i should looking for.
(2022.10.13) we cleaned the sensors and put the car back together. I waited until the car was warmed up before i drove out of the driveway... and we didn't get the P0715 code....we got the P0730 code instead. However, the car did not go into limp mode. We tried pulling the shift solenoid to clean the filters, but the filter was clean. So, not looking good. any thoughts would be appreciated. it isn't looking good to get my car smogged next month.
Thanks for any help,
Teah

So, did not drive the car cold. i'm not sure if we would get the P0715 code back before we get the P0730 if the car was driven cold. for now, i am assuming the P0715 is gone and we just have to fix the P0730...
We just took out the lock-out solenoid (same PN as the shift solenoid) and the filters were clean! We tested both the solenoids and they are within spec and both have clean filters. Unfortunately, the solenoid filter broke, so we have to buy a replacement that is only available from a dealer <sigh>.
Since several posts mention that the filters need to be cleaned, i was hoping that these were the filters to clean. Note that I just connected the dots to realize that the solenoids had filters.
Does anyone know if there are any other filters we should be looking for to check/clean on a 1995 Accord V6 AT?
I've read that this particular transmission is robust, so before i have to give up on the car, i'm hoping to be able to fix this.
Any other thoughts/experiences with this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks In Advance!
