I grew up in the domestic scene where my dad had street raced some fast v8 cars(11-9 sec) for its time(1990-early 2000’s). Growing up around muscle cars made me hate imports, even more so because at that time they were loud and 99.9 percent of them were very slow. However, my hate for imports had changed in 2005 when my parents had bought me a 1998 civic hatchback for $1000. At the time I never had planned to mod this car as I wanted to build a muscle car but the civic was already running and was cheap to mod. So little by little I started to mod my civic. Started off with an air intake, then a muffler, and pretty much after that the mods continued. As I started to mod my civic I started to find out the hard way that money was better spent on authentic parts and not the replica parts due to the quality of how they were made. As time went on I built it multiple items and changed out multiple parts. Enough of my story, let’s get to the pictures Within in the first week of getting the hatch my dad had put 17in wheels on it, changed out the stereo, and put a box with two 12in in the trunk.
By 2010 I had changed out the wheels to 15s, lowered the car, added a bomex wing, rear fog light, carbon fenders, hood, and trunk In 2011 I changed out the wheels again, put a built d16 in the car and a turbo kit.
The pink hatch is another car I built but will get to that car later. In 2012 I had registered my hatch for a car show called Wekfest and within a months time frame a good buddy named Jorge from H-car had helped me redo the car. The car went under the knife and got its engine bay cleaned up, painted, brake line tuck, wire tucked, an other set of wheels, new seats, and a few other upgrades.
After the wekfest event in 2012 and IFO shortly after that the motor got pulled from the car and I neglected the car till 2016 when I had finally decided to get the car running and enjoy it once again.
After the wekfest event in 2012 and IFO shortly after that the motor got pulled from the car and neglected the car till 2016 when I decided to put the car back together and go racing.
Once again in 2018 I decided to tear the car apart to lighten the car up and go for more power. I had intentions of putting a my fully built h22 motor with PPG h22 dogbox in the car. I had changed out all the exterior parts to all carbon parts (minus roof and quarter panels), swapped out the tucked harness, Neptune ecu, and digital dash for a Rywire aem infinity harness, aem infinity 508 standalone, aem cd5 dash, and removed all the heavy suspension parts and gas tank for a FCS Race k member, forks, lower control arms, trailing arms, and 5 gallon gas tank.
By 2020 the car just need some minor things to get it finished when I had decided to part out everything I had for the car.
by 2021 the car was just a shell and I had to find it a new home but I didn’t want it to go to someone who was going to cut up the car to turn it into a gutted race car or to someone who would just end up selling it or trading it within a few months of owning it. After all this was my first car, my high school car, the car that got me into the import scene, the car that Got me to meet some cool friends within the car community, and not to mention I had this car since 2005. So I knew I wanted it to go to a home where it would be safe and I could easily find it if one day I decided that I want my first car back.
Shortly after tearing the whole car apart I had called my cousin (a person who is a big Honda collector and won’t sell any car he owns) and asked him if he would be interested in purchasing the car off of me as a shell but I made him aware that before he took the car I would of liked to wrench on the car one more time and put it back to a running car. He said he was all for it and instantly started to supply me with parts. Here’s how it looks today. Today it looks nothing like it did a few years ago but I must say that I am really glad that it’s in good hands and is a clean, simple, running car.
As for the other Hatch I had mentioned earlier. You know the pink one I said I’d circle back to.
Well this car was originally purchased for my girlfriend back in 2011 and when purchased it was a half done/put together car. The previous owner had primed the exterior and engine bay black. It was far from a nice looking car when we purchased it but what really got me to buying it was that it was turbocharged. So shortly after acquiring this car I put my 17in wheels on it, ditched the stock front seats and changed them out for a set of sparcos, we ditched the rear seats, and rear interior panels. Yup that black civic in the middle is the pink civic.
by the end of 2011 we had taken this hatch to my uncles body shop to have the exterior and interior of the car painted. Since it was my girlfriends build at the time she opted to paint the exterior a custom hot pink and do the interior a plum purple.
after this the car pretty much stayed in this form. After a few years she lost interest in the car but I wasn’t ready to let it go so I just maintained the car and occasional drove it up and down the street. It wasn’t until 2018 when I decide to pull the stock d16 motor and turbo kit out of the car and make the engine bay as pretty as the rest of the car.
By the time I was done shaving the bay and painting it I was starting to have a reality check hit me and realizing that it was going to be very difficult and expensive to be able to build and maintain two fast Hondas. Not just that but I would only be able to drive one car at a time. So by 2020 I decided to put a h22 swap in this car since I had originally intend for this car to have an h22 in it. Shortly after completing the car I had put it up for sale and sold it a few months later. Today this car is owned by a really good friend of mine. He intends to drive it occasionally but keep it a garage Queen majority of the time. Here’s how it looks today

Extremely clean hatch, very nice car. What are your plans now?
I’ll be building another car that has a heart of a Honda but everything else will be from the grassroots that got me into drag racing… a muscle car chassis.

Oooh I'm interested.
Both EK's look VERY clean, super nice builds. Thank you for sharing.
Still looks very good. I'm glad you've preserved it all these years and tried to find it a good home.
Way too many of these old Civics are ending up becoming scrap. EGs and EFs are basically dead at this point.
the good thing is that the car is in Texas so preserving it wasn’t to hard. Just had to make sure it stayed covered to keep the sun from beating on the paint.
Well yesterday I was given some sad news. The pink hatch was sold to some random guy on Facebook. I knew eventually the car would be sold to someone else but I didn’t think it would of been this soon. I owned that car since 2010 (11 years) and within a year the car has now gone through 3 different owners. Makes me sad because I just know that the car will go down hill from here. I really hope it doesn’t but from my past experiences with the Honda community you usually see Hondas go from hand to hand and slow go down into the ground (aka the junkyard).
