89 crx won't start after changing starter
Starter was bad so I bought a new one. I've had tons of Hondas and changed plenty of starters with no problems. After the new one was installed the car won't start. Turn key on and everything lights up as normal, I hear the fuel pump kick on and all but when trying to start it does nothing, starter doesn't turn at all. At some point, ( I think after I unhooked battery I got in and turned the key to see if there was power when I heard what sounded like a fuse pop) I turned the key on and thought I heard a pop sound like a fuse but I heard it from the passenger side and sounded like it was inside the car. Checked all the fuses everywhere else and all are good. Never had this happen before and don't know where to start
new one is where to start. check leads and grounds. If you heard a "pop" it could as well be the starter. pull it out take it to a auto store or hook a negative up to it and hit it with a positive to see if it engages.
more than likely just the starter relay
more than likely just the starter relay
I'm a little late to this question, but I'll throw in my $.02 based on an experience I had years ago. Long story short, I had intermittent starting problems and eventually diagnosed it to the "idiot swtich" under the clutch pedal. Not sure what its proper name is, but it cuts power to the starter if you don't have the clutch pushed in. That way you can't start the car with it in gear. It looks like a little button right below the clutch pedal. I ended up cutting it off and splicing the wires together. Hope that helps.
