93 EG civic sitting forever trying to get it to run
I’m new to the forums and I got a 93 civic sitting for 10+ years and I want to get it to start it’s my dads car and I want to get it running again what things would I need looking for a lot of help and any good bodywork places in Ontario Canada
Re: 93 EG civic sitting forever trying to get it to run
For starters:
Fresh fluids everywhere (Oil, Coolant, Trans fluid, power steering, brake, freon)
Drain fuel tank and check for rust
New spark plugs
New air filter
New battery
You may want to pull out the injectors and either put in a new set, or at least clean them. Some shops will clean them, otherwise there's some DIY methods as well. Put fresh fuel in the tank, and a fuel system cleaner would be a good idea as well.
Edit: Something else I would recommend is getting an air compressor and shooting air down each of the cylinders through the spark plug holes to help blow out any debris (or nests) that have settled there over the years. Also when you do find a shop to take the car to, be sure to ask them if they're experienced with sheet metal/welding work, because that quarter panel damage will need proper inserts and not just bondo to be fixed properly.

pop the timing belt top cover off and check the timing belt. 10 years is a LONG time for it to be sitting. If the timing belt is dryrotted then replace it befor you think about starting it.
Generally on engines that have sat for over a year, you would spray small amount of oil into each spark plug hole and gently hand crank over the engine using a wrench. Do three revolutions at the crank, then spin it with the starter (plugs out) to blow out the oil that you sprayed into the spark plug holes.. Then start the engine or at least try to start it
If its been sitting that long there is a good chance rust has formed at the piston rings. Thats why you spray the oil in the plug holes first.
Good luck

This is all also very good advice - Good thinking about the timing belt and hand cranking the engine to start with.
On the note of the timing belt and rubber dryrotting - You should get new tires as well... Won't exactly be cheap getting this thing road worthy again.
