What brand paint should I be ordering..
So my new 97 couple is in desperate need of a paint job...the body is good except for the rear bumper cover which is getting replacing. Usual faded paint/clear coat. This is just my work car and my first paint job. Gonna be building a makeshift booth in my shop.
What is a good mediocre paint out there. Want to make it a nice 15 footer. Going back with the orignal color which is black.

Most paint shops can sell you pre mixed paints if you ask, but they usually have a shelf life. You can always try using rattle cans for the paint and then shooting clear with a gun but ive tried that before and always get these harsh paint lines from the nozzel tightness. Its a much cheaper option than getting a paint gun and compressor ect, but using a paint gun will usually guarantee a really good paint job if done right. If your paint and body is still in good condition you can always scuff up the clear coat and re apply it, then blend it together with wetsanding and buffing
Eastwood automotive paint is great, that's what I went with.
They sell 1 stage and 2 stage paint.
1 stage is color and clear in 1 shot.
2 stage is color as a basecoat and clearcoat on top.

what is your budget?
no reason to do all the work needed for refinish and just do it "ok"
materials and equipment is expensive.
with the cost of paint going up, maybe more cost effective to just bring your vehicle to a maaco or something.
im in the autobody industry and paint and materials has went up atleast 25% this year.
we use ppg envirobase (waterborne) due to epa regulations.
waterborne paint is 3xs the cost of solvent.
