Based on the circuit diagrams, '03-05 should be the same if they are the same trim level. If they are not the same trim level, then there may be differences.

Different trim levels gauges:
'03-05 GX
'03-05 DX
'03-05 HX, LX, EX

Do you know what trim level is your original and the replacement trim level?

It looks like the connectors are all 22P.

If you want to use the replacement cluster, you'll have to figure out or guess whether it is a GX or not GX (but, HX, or LX, or EX).

Then you probably will need to de-pin the wires and and re-pin them in the connectors. There are youtube videos and Honda guides on de-pinning on the internet.

These are the 3 pin-outs for the different trim connectors.

Take photos of your wiring before and label them with tape or something so you don't get mixed up.

Is there any way to check on the cluster itself?

See if you can find a part number label or something. Then google the number or post it in this thread.

The part number may tell which trim it is from.

That looks like the part number 78100-S5P-A72 for a 2-door EX AT.

You would need to re-pin the wires (swap wires). There have been people who done it before.

This video show a de-pinning and re-pinning process. But, follow the diagrams I posted earlier to match your DX with the EX.

Wouldn’t it be possible to oust the wiring from an ex 2 door into my car?

That would be a far greater project in terms of time, money, etc. to figure out how to and connect a harness from a different trim level.

I gotta admit I’m out of my depth here. Where do you think I could find a cluster that could connect and play to my car?

A cluster from a 2001-2002 HX, LX, EX may possibly plug and play with your 2005 DX.
