Default Broken into a second time - Column Lock?

I have a 1995 Honda Accord with low miles (136k) but after moving into the city it has been broken into twice. In both cases the criminal ripped open the steering column and removed the electrical ignition switch (not the key lock). In neither case did they steel the car. This happened in different locations. In one case they broke the switch and in the other they took the switch. It cost $350 to repair it the first time. The switch assembly does not have wires (has copper bars) so I assume it confuses the common thief.

Question #1 - Is there a locking metal column cover one can purchase to limit access to the switch area.

Question #2 - Is there a reason this car is targeted?

Question #3 - Any suggestions

Scott

#1 I doubt it, you'd have to make something yourself
#2 No idea, maybe they think it will be easy to steal being an older car?
#3 Just put a club lock on the steering wheel, never leave anything in view, not even a candy bar

Put a kill switch on the main relay ground. It'll stop the ECU, Fuel pump, and spark.
90s Honda have always been a top target for car theft. Only recently has it shifted over newer cars.

Only problem with a kill switch is that, some loser will still damage the lock and wires trying to get it. A club is great, if they want it that bad they'll need to cut the steering wheel with a hacksaw then mess with wires which would probably help prevent people even bothering with it.
