1999 PRELUDE WON'T START
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. My 17 year old son and I are fixing up a 99 prelude SH. It was driving fine and then all the sudden it wouldn't start. We ended up changing the injectors and it started again. About a month later, same issue. The car won't start. We ended up changing fuel filter which was no easy task. We are getting fuel to the rail. I can hear the fuel pump on start up. The car cranks, but won't turn over. Battery is good, check that. I check fuel pump fuses, all good. I checked the spark plugs and they all are getting spark.
Any thoughts on what this could be ? Can timing cause the car not to start ?

Timing can absolutely cause it to not start. On the distributor end, if you're getting spark on all 4, make sure the timing is set right by turning the distributor. That said, it's probably not the problem. Unless the timing belt tensioner failed it should be good on that end. If it did, it would sound awful and you'd have a lot of problems. If you're crank sensor is bad or has a bad connection, that could do it too and there would be a CEL. I think you replied in another thread that the CEL was on, but that you can't start it to see if it still is. If you checked the code, do you remember what it is?
No CEL codes. I have spark in all plugs. I had the battery checked and it's good. I am checking the main relay. From what I have read, it's supposed to click at each turn of the key. I get a click at the 2nd turn, but that's all. I am going to pick up a new main relay and see if that does the trick. Again, changed the fuel filter and injectors already. I also changed the main negative ground that was old and worn out. I have fuel and spark. I keep thinking it's a sensor or relay. What sensor could cause the engine to crank with no start ?
Before buying a new main relay, they are easy to check and re-solder. Just open it, take a pic of the solder points and zoom in, if you see a little black ring around the solder, there's your problem.
I did buy the main relay sensor and tried that. That's not the problem. Relay is good. I can feel it clicking and the new one didn't help. Back to the problem.
I am thinking it could be the crank sensor ? Anyway to know that before buying a new one and trying that. I don't have any codes but I can't start the car to really find out. I did have a check engine light before the problem started. The car was also idling a little rough, which makes me think the crank sensor could be the issue
Any thoughts

You can simply test the sensors in the distributor, read the post - how to fix cel code #9 cylinder sensor. Someone posted a service pic on how to test each sensor in the distributor.
it's for odb1 dizzy but should be similar.
