Small story about my 2020 Pilot
Bought a brand new 2020 Honda Pilot in 2020 and it ran perfect for a year then some issues started showing up. A continuous sputtering issue around low rpms would come and go over time.
Mind you I have put a ton of miles on this Pilot about 40K a year give or take. As time went on I did find out what the issue was. Carbon build up on the injectors which makes them faulty and makes almost
all the sensors come on the dash. Sadly this was not under warranty and cost around 2,000 to fix at the Honda dealership. Then later I had an emissions issue, had it checked out and it was a faulty catalytic converter
that is under warranty and will be fixed. But the part is on back order. Apparently this is an issue with Pilots due to them being direct port injection and a recall has been made on the older models but not on these.
Undenounced to me I was told to stop running 87 octane. So we have moved on to running 89 and occasionally 93 octane. I was also told that it also happens with the higher grade fuels but not as much. Direct port
injectors are notorious for carbon build up and one issue is lower quality fuel. So if you have a 2019 or newer Pilot be aware of this issue.
