Oil leak spots
So new to me 97 Accord. I noticed when I com to a stop after mile 40 miles drive I can smell oil burning and when I pop the hood there is smoke coming from the back where throttle body and intake are.
I got under the car and noticed oil ALL over the back of the block and on the oil pan gasket...a lot on the passenger side and on the trans...there has been a oil leak for awhile.
There was a bolt missing form the oil pan so fixed that.
New vtec solenoid gasket
New valve cover gasket
new distributor o ring
new oil pressure switch as this one was covered in oil
oil change.
I did not have any brake cleaner so I tried to clean as much as I could with this much oil and where the exhaust is I realize this could take awhile to burn off. Done my first 40 mile drive and there is still smoke but don't smell it as much.
Gonna give it a few days to burn off but after this if I'm still having a leak where else should I check.

What i have found with every Accord i have ever owned is that the oil pan gasket always leaks as well as that distributor O ring. Even with replacing a missing bolt in the oil pan, it will probably need a gasket pan.Use Permatex Great Stuff on both sides of the pan gasket to truly seal the oil pan.
A lot of my oil burning small in my cars have been from the valve cover gasket. Even though you just replaced it, recheck it for leaks as well as proper torque. Some times when an engine heats and cools a couple of times the bolts may need re-tightened.

I will double check the valve cover gaskets.
The oil pan gasket will need replaced but if thats what causing a little smoke after a 40 mile drive I can deal with that for awhile until I get time to change it. Just gotta keep an eye on my oil level
I was mainly concerned because there was oil drops on the filter.
Only the 3rd drive since I changed everything still a little smoke and oil but not much.
