A couple of months ago I got a 2000 Accord 2.3L 5MT with about 190k on it. One of the code that I pulled up was P1486. Went to oreilly and bought a coolant temp sensor. There was 2 different style and they couldn't tell me which one I needed. Got home replaced it and problem CEL was gone after a couple minute of driving. A month later CEL was on again with the same code. So I replaced it again under warranty and went about my day. CEL was gone after I replaced it. Fast forward to another 2 month or so it came back AGAIN. This time I didn't bother going back in to warrant the sensor, CEL is still on.

Not sure if the parts at Oreilly was just junk or if I bought the wrong style for my engine or if there is a bigger issue with the engine.

I am probity going to try AutoZone and see how it goes but before I do, any other suggestions or am I overlooking something?

 

Just get the other brand, i went through 2 altenators from them in 6 mounths
the one that kept going out on me was more expencive, cheeper one is still running strong
they sell junk to

Update:

I bought the other one and still got a CEL after driving for a couple week. I also bought a NGK one from rockauto. After a couple weeks of driving the CEL came back on. Is there anything that I can do to prevent the CEL to come back on? What is causing this to fail?
