I am the original owner of a 2001 Acura Integra Type R. It has a 147,000 miles on it. I want to sell it. I am considering painting it prior to sale. I got a quote of $2975 by Maaco in National City, California. There are also various things that require repair, including passenger door handle, power antenna, trip odometer, and upholstery. What do you think?
Maaco doesn't have the greatest reputation. You might be better off selling it as is, and let the next owner decide if they want a cheap paint job or something more elaborate or even a color change.
Basically, you would be unnecessarily rolling the dice IMO. Will it increase the value of the car by that much? Probably not.
It will most likely hold more value with its original paint! If anything, maybe have the car detailed with paint correction then that would be ok before its sold.
Put it on bring a trailer you will get a good buyer.
