Default ef b16 swap grinding trying to get into 1st and 2nd

Hey all, I just finished my swap in my ef hatch with a b16a2 and a 96 integra rs tranny. I知 having trouble trying to figure out why there is grinding when I try to put the car into 1st and sometimes 2nd while the car is moving. 3-5 gears have never grinded at all. I have a cable to hydro conversion bracket from innovative and I致e tried adjusting both the bracket and the cable with a little success, but I still get grinding every time in 1st but now only sometimes in 2nd (this is only when moving).

I知 not sure this is normal for a b series tranny, but one thing to note is that when I go into 5th or reverse, it痴 really precise shifting, like I know I知 in that gear. 3-4 gears are less precise but I still pretty much know I知 in them. 1-2 is sloppy to get into. I知 never confident I知 in the right gear. Could this be a potential reason why it痴 grinding, maybe because I知 not actually going into gear sometimes? Should I replace bushings on the shifter?

No, it is not normal for the b series tranny to grind while shifting.. Since you say with the way it is shifting basically better when the shifter is moving farther to the right for gear selection, poorer on the left for 1st/2nd.. Sure sounds like there is some sort of misalignment with the shift linkage and having too much play. Replacing the old bushings and getting rid of excessive play throughout all the moving joints in the shift linkage to shifter should help quite a bit.

First thing I would do is make sure it's getting full clutch disengagement at around the halfway mark of pressing the pedal, if it's near the floor there's a problem. Once that's adjusted correctly go through the shift linkage making it all moves freely but having zero excess play, inspect bushings for wear and stiffness.
If everything is mechanically done right then I would think -what type of oil is being used inside the tranny. Really only prefer honda manual fluid over anything. There's alot of other kinds out there but I just stick with what I know works well.
Lastly, I would open the tranny if grinding was still an issue. Inspect the sleeves teeth and the gears dog teeth for damage/wear and make sure they are still usable. If the gears teeth are rounded/deformed or chipped to **** then they are done. Next check and make sure the sleeves slide on the hubs smoothly, inspect the synchros wear, wire rings face cond., shift forks and so on for all the internal workings of the tranny and replace what's necessary.
