Default Autopower roll bar doesn't fit

Bought a used but new 60581 Autopower Rollbar for my 94 hatch. Everything looks nice and correct however when trying to install it I discovered it's simply too wide at the edges of the bottom mounts. About half an inch too wide or so. Tried contacting them but got nothing in response. I don't want to cut into the chassis of the car obviously. Could I just grind down the sides of each leg base a quarter inch? What tool to do recommend would shave the metal off with the least amount of hassle? Anyone else dealt with this issue? I've only seen one other post from a while ago with a similar issue

Get a 3" wide ratchet strap and pull the legs together the 1/2". Leave the strap connected until you have the bar installed.

This is a very creative suggestion... I like it.

This was a great suggestion using the ratchet straps. Thank you. It worked great to get the bar in, but once I got it in I noticed a plethora of other fitment issues all boiling down to manufacturing error. Got ahold of them and they told me that it was "damaged in shipping" and to shell out another grand to buy another new one from them. So yeah don't do business with Autopower. Lesson learned.

That's very disappointing. Did you buy it from Autopower?

I'd contest the charge/do a charge back honestly.
