Need a bit of help.. Someone tried stealing my civic.
Hi all,
Last night someone tried to steal my Civic 89' hatchback with some scissors. Luckily they haven't been able to take the car but they've mangled up both the door locks and the ignition cylinder, the steering lock also doesn't seem to work anymore.
I'm now trying to replace the ignition cylinder or at the least pull it out to get a part number.. I have unscrewed the three screws for the steering column cover and have managed to use my key to get to the number one position on the ignition but the hole you need to push in doesn't seem to work no matter how much I have tried to wiggle it.
Any suggestions on what's wrong? Will I need to replace the whole ignition switch?

ill run you threw the process of making it work with your original key
Appreciate the response, I have found parts from a local distributor but I'm just having trouble actually getting the cylinder out. The button to release it won't depress. Any advice?
