Main relay not ticking, fuel pump not priming (engine cranks)
I have a d16 sohc non vtec civic and randomly one night after replacing a coolant hose and readjusting the distributor the car just decided to not prime the fuel pump, the main relay ticked like crazy but there was no fuel pump action.
After a day i went back to the car and tested all the connections on the fuel pump itself to see that they were all receiving power, but for sone reason there was a red cable with no apparent connection that would put out 12V of power, I ignored it and plugged all the connections back in and then the car started, relay ticked a little and then it started, fuel pump primed and everything drove beautifully for the day, then two days later come out, same problem, so I plugged the red wire directly into the fuel pump and then it primed and the relay didn’t click and then it drove wonderfully, then i stalled while trying to park and then it wouldn’t start back up again, fuel pump primed but no relay tick, could anyone help me as I would orefer to know exactly what parts to buy as opposed to guess and check thank you

Check the ground on your thermostat housing to make sure it is clean and tight... as well as on the housing side of the thermostat housing and not the cap side. Also, make sure that the bolts holding the thermostat housing to the block are tight as well. If you painted the block... make sure the contact points between the thermostat housing and the block are both clean and shiny. If all of this is good... you likely have a bad ECU.
Ok, i’ll go and try to to clean up those ground connections and make sure everything is tight, i’ll keep an update on whether it works or not thank you
Alrighty all the grounds are secure and clean, the fuel pump when tested primes perfectly but the relay will not tick what so ever, It had done one small tick before just sitting in silence so could the relay have gone bad if it isn’t ticking or is it the ECU??
I have a 1990 civic hatchback, replaced the battery, battery terminals and made sure I was getting power to the ignition switch. Pop started the car it drove fine, turned it off and won’t turn over. It cranks but won’t start and the fuel pumps no longer prime also the clock on the dash and radio no longer come on. I have no idea why they don’t work now or why the car won’t start.
