Default 1992 Accord Lx Stalling issue

My accord started stalling out on me right as I left the driveway the other day, check engine and battery light came on, and it started back up right away. I had to be somewhere out of state I couldnt miss so I just said a prayer and I was able to make the 200 mile trip there and back just fine. Next day I leave my driveway and stall out after a block, same lights came on and was able to start up again no problem than stalled out two more times trying to getting back home. Idling in park just fine and not having any bouncing idle.
Im getting trouble code 14 for the IAC valve. I took it off to inspect and it looks pretty clean but a previous owner had used what I suspect was High temp RTV gasket sealant to make a new gasket that is pretty much toast at this point.

Is there a testing procedure I can do to make sure the valve is working as it should? Could the problem just be from the failed gasket? Thanks for your time.

Hello,

You can check the resistance of the IAC (spec is 8 to 15 ohms), but that test isn't always conclusive. If you have the wiring diagram for the car, you could also check the rest of the circuit. However, since the IAC is relatively affordable (under $50), you might want to just replace it and install a fresh seal to see if that fixes the problem. Another thing to keep in mind is that it's not uncommon for the ECM to fail and cause code 14 on these cars.
