Working under the timing cover, ran into trouble
I'm replacing seals under the timing cover on my 2000 accord lx 2.3L vtec manual, and I've hit one of those issues that takes a 2 or 3 hour job and makes it endless.
The front balance shaft sprocket (the sprocket above and left of the crankshaft, connected to the oil pump housing) has a 12mm bolt in the center that turns with the sprocket I can't break free for anything. I've already broken a screwdriver by placing it in the shaft hole that runs through the shaft from 3 oclock to 9 oclock, and bracing it against my alternator. It's to a point where I'm afraid something's going to break . Is this the correct way to remove the sprocket? Reversed threads maybe?? Idk, if you've done this before and it required something unorthodox please let me know.
