I have a 2019 Touring with 18,000 miles on it that the trunk button on the door no longer works. The trunk release from the key fobs does work as well as the button near the license plate at the rear of the car. I have confirmed that the switch in the glove box is in the ON position, and have turned it on and off a hundred times for good measure while trying to chase this.
Has anyone else experienced this? Where do I check next?
Re: Drivers Door Trunk Release Button no longer works
It may be a faulty trunk opener switch. The service manual does not show any specific procedure to remove the switch without removing the driver's door panel.
If you're able to disconnect the 4P harness connector to that switch, then you can jump the disconnected 4P connector's terminal no. 1 (blk wire cavity terminal) to terminal no. 2 (gray wire cavity terminal). If the trunk opens, then the switch is probably faulty.
Re: Drivers Door Trunk Release Button no longer works
This is the pin-out for the 4P connector. Jumping terminal no. 1 to terminal no. 2 is the same effect as pressing the switch, where a ground signal is sent.
Re: Drivers Door Trunk Release Button no longer works
I don't have a driver's door trunk opener switch problem but I'm trying to remove the driver's door panel on my 2020 Civic Coupe Sport and I can't get the harness connector to disconnect from the trunk opener switch. The small white connector feels like it has a tab that I can press in (I can't see this tab because it's on the panel side of the connector) but the connector only moves a small amount. I'm wondering if I'm on the right track by pressing this tab and just keep trying to force the connector out or if there is something else to do with this connector to separate it from the black trunk opener switch?

In the future, please post or create a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum for your model vehicle (i.e., 2020 Civic).
The trunk lid switch has two tabs on opposite sides to depress.
Re: Drivers Door Trunk Release Button no longer works
Thanks, I squeezed those two tabs and was able to push the switch through the door panel, which then provided me better access to the tab on the wire harness connector and separate it from the switch.
As for the direction on where to post, I wondered if I created a new post, would I then be directed to post in an existing thread about a trunk lid opener switch. So this is what I chose but I can see now that yes, I should have posted in the appropriate Civic forum.
