1991 honda civic sedan
I just recently went through hell with distributors. I bought 2 brand new Duralast gold dizzys and they didn’t work. Then I bought a used one and that didn’t work. What ended up fixing it was getting a reman dizzy from rock auto. Return your new one from garbagezone and get a better remanufactured one

Yeah. That was going on with mine as well. I would start by going through your timing. Make sure your mechanical timing is set TDC. And then slip your belt on. I had to mess with my belt a lot to get my timing right; by moving it tooth by tooth. Then use a timing light to set the dizzy timing. You can have someone in the car keeping it a live and losses your distributor just enough so you can turn it. And move until the idle is smooth. Are you misfiring pretty bad?
here is an awesome
video for setting mechanical time. It’s not that bad to do it with the engine in
